How To Wear A Corset

Corsets can go with jeans for a casual look, with skirts for an evening appeal, and under suit jackets for a professional flair. Corsets make women feel sexy and turn guys’ heads because they accentuate the figure and minimize the waist. Follow these steps to find out how to wear a corset.

• Step 1 – Make sure the corset is two to four inches smaller than your waist size. Corsets are sexy pieces of your wardrobe not torture devices. Corsets that are too tightly tied can be unhealthy. Your corset should be snug enough to hold you in, but still permit unrestricted breathing.
• Step 2 – Wear your corset so it follows the bust line and falls just below the hip. Corsets should hold you in and up. Corsets that are too long are outdated and will give you a grandma look, no matter how sexy the top is.
• Step 3 – Tie the corset correctly by lacing in the back before putting it on, put it on, and then have it tightened. This will ensure that your corset is molding sufficiently to your figure. A friend will come in handy when lacing up the corset.
• Last but not least, remember, like wearing your bra to bend abit forward and push/adjust your bust properly.

Advantages Of A Corset

Obvious advantages are mainly aesthetic or personal in nature such as giving the wearer a desired look – fuller hips and bosom, smaller waist. Corsets can also make a woman appear much thinner, curvier and noble in stature because of the effect on posture. Corsets can also instantly reduce the waistline, and over time reduce appetite and body fat. Historically, they helped distribute the weight of large gowns and encouraged shallow breathing believed to have a charming effect on men. They can also provide extra insulation and warmth for the wearer.

There are also several health benefits to corset wearing. They promote good posture, provide significant support for the back, and can even reduce pain and inflammation for those with muscular/skeletal disorders. Some large breasted women even boast that they receive better support for thier breasts and less pain associated with the weight of their breasts when wearing a corset compared to a standard bra. When worn for extended periods of time on a regular basis, also called training, corsets can maintain abdominal pressure that over time will reduce body fat by supressing the appetite and reducing the waistline.

Disadvantages Of A Corset

Along with the noted advantages, comes some pretty serious risks. The most notable is Glenard’s disease with is caused by prolonged corset use and is characterized by decreased abdominal muscle tone, visceral displacement and atrophy in the abdominal wall. Other risks include compression of the chest cavity that can deform the stomach and liver, decreased lung capacity, intercostal breathing and physical deformities. Downward pressure on the abdomen can result in unsightly bulges or an abdominal skirt – a band of stomach tissue that folds over the top of itself.

The most important thing to remember when deciding on a corset is to find a corset that fits your body. You’ll need to break it in by wearing it for short periods of time and relacing and retightening it after every few hours. You also need to become accustomed to the shallow breathing that occurs so that your oxygen levels aren’t reduced so far as to faint or cause damage to any tissues.

Taking Care Of Your Corset

• Do not clean corset in washing or dryer machine.
• Instead do cold hand wash. Just soak it with water and put some softener/detergent. Let it soak for approx 20 minutes, drain out the water and hang dry. Or you can do dry clean for more simple.
• Do not fold your corset on the boning area. Simply hang them up or fold them flat or you can roll it, and put in the drawer.

• Step 1: Get a measuring tape, obviously…
• Step 2: Wear your favourite / best bra, one that is of the most comfortable fit (non-pushup or non-padded preferred).
• Step 3: Measure your uderbust (the circumference of the area right under your breasts).
• Step 4: Measure your bustline (the circumference of the fullest part of your breasts)
• Step 5: In a bra size, for e.g.: 40C, that will mean your underbust (as in step 3) measures 40 inches.
• Step 6: As for your bra cup, take your [bustline (step 4) minus your underbust (step 3)]. The difference will be the cup size (see below). The bra cup size is incremental with every inch difference.

• 1 inch difference = A cup
• 2 inches difference = B cup
• 3 inches difference = C cup
• 4 inches difference = D cup
• 5 inches difference = E cup
• 6 inches difference = F cup
