Alright…here’s the low-down after gathering information form different sources! Am late with this info but was really caught up with stuff…So, yes, the inaugural PLUS SIZE BEAUTY PAGEANT in Singapore! How exciting is that?! From what I know, we already have a couple of members already registered for it, pending audition. So here’s the deal, BAB members out there, if you have registered for this pageant, let me know!!! I will go gather everyone and poms poms and the whole deal to give you our utmost BIGnBEAUTIFUL support!!!

Who is the organizer?
The pageant is organized by TKS N Sons Pte Ltd. From the website, www.internationalworldpageants.com, it seems like they have organized many successful pageants before.

Who is the wardrobe sponsor?
Lavender Closet is the sole wardrobe sponsor, last spoken to Missy Closet, she is now busy preparing for the gowns, etc. So you do not need to worry about not having any pretty clothes to wear!

About the Plus Size Beauty Pageant
A carefully selected group of girls will compete in the beauty pageant. And 1 from each category – Miss Amazing and Mrs Amazing will emerge as the winner. Here’s how it will look like (most details are not confirmed yet and the below is just an estimation and subjected to changes).

• If interested, please register before 28 Feb 2010 (see below for registration details)
• Upon registration, you are required to go for an audition. There are most likely 2 auditions – 30 Jan and the other after Chinese New Year
• For the audition on 30 Jan, below are the details (please note that you will have to register first before going for the audition)
• The organizer is looking at approx. 50 candidates.
• Through the 2 rounds of auditions, they wil pick and select the best 50 candidates.
• After you have been shortlisted, you have to be mentally prepared to commit to the pageant for at least 6 months (there may be assignments, photoshoot, publicity such as meet the public in shopping malls, etc done over 6 months – it may be on weekends and a couple on weekdays)
• Also, you have to be prepared to invest a few hundred dollars (about approx $500) over 6 months for the different services, etc, such as your portfolio photoshoot, etc.

30 Jan Audition Low-Down

• Date: 30th January 2010 (2pm to 4pm)
• Venue: JnC Bridal (45 Mosque Street 01-01 Tel 65330878)
• Dress code: Stylish with light makeup and hair styled
• Miscellaneous: Printed copy of personal achievements /portfolios /credentials + $30 non refunable administrative fee (redeemable for services)

Contestants will be provided entry form with contestant’s agreement to fill in on actual day.

What does the winner get?

• Cash prizes (yet to confirm) – the ad on WanBao on 23 Dec mentioned that it will be $5,000 cash for the winner
• A chance to compete in the International Beauty Pageant, against contestants from other countries (although details are yet to confirm but seems like most likely, you are not going to fly out of Singapore, the other countries contestants will be flying in instead)

What is the Plus Size Pageant criteria?

• Above 18 years old
• Above weight of 80kg
• Have a talent or skill
• Able to win the crowd with your loveliest smile
• Confidence is a must
• To be a role model for all plus size girls to look up to
• Able to speak well and present yourself well in public

How To Register
Should you be interested, simply register by sending an email to Lavendar Closet (lavendercloset@gmail.com) and they will give you the necessary information for the audition. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $30.
